Dr. Brian Greene

Dr. Brian Greene is one of the most prominent physicist of this era. Greene is best known for his studies in the superstring theory. The superstring theory is the thought of, what Dr. Greene calls them "dancing filaments" or vibrating stings. That is where the name string theory came about. The string theory is the idea that inside the corcs of the central nucleus of an atom are these "dancing strings". Brian Greene is one physicist trying to work out the mathematics of this theory and he
says that the only way the mathematics will work is if he uses the idea of Robert Klein and Theodore Kaluza.. Their idea was that the universe has more than just the three dimensions that a human can see. They theorized that inside of these three dimensions are small curled up dimensions. Dr. Greene uses their theory to help support his ideas for the superstring theory.

Insight and Influences

Dr. Greene entered Harvard University in 1980 and majored in physics. He received his Ph.D. at Oxford University in England in 1986 as a Rhodes Scholar, which is a specially picked student by Oxford University. Brian Greene has what seems like many influences. His father pushed him to finish high school and get to college because he did not finish high school himself. What made him get into the superstring theory were the math equations that Robert Klein and Theodore Kaluza came up with and the thought that there are more dimensions in the world. Greene excelled from there, He went on to be a public speaker and a very intelligent physicist.

Major Contributions to Physics

Dr. Greene is known for more than just a string theorist. He is said to be the “father” of mirror symmetry, the dictionary meaning is the parity is conserved in a universe in which the laws of physics are the same in a right-handed system of coordinates as in a left-handed system. Brian, and others, researched a mild form of topology before getting into string theory. His mathematical skills and high brain power are other very important contributions to the world of physics. His main goal is working on the string theory and what he is known for best. Dr. Greene has been working with the mathematics formulas he got from Theodore Kaluza's work.

Affect and Effect

Dr. Brian Greene was born on February 9, 1963 in New York City, New York. Greene’s mathematical skills were unbelievable for his age. At age five he could multiply thirty digit numbers and by twelve he was getting a tutor because he had amazingly passed all the high school mathematics. Greene went to Stuyvesant High School and then off to Harvard for college in 1980 and majored in physics and mathematics. He also went to Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Dr. Greene now works at Columbia University as the co-director of the University’s Institute for Strings, Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics. Brian Greene is most famous for his book on string theory called The Elegant Universe. Greene has had other published work also, He wrote Fabric of the cosmos, space, time and the texture of reality and Icarus at the edge of time.

The Things He Left Behind

Dr. Greene is not dead yet therefore he cannot "leave anything behind". Brian Greene is one of the most intelligent people in the world, and when he is gone his mathematical skills and problems and his help with widening the views on String Theory and all the work he put into that. His brilliant mind along with other brilliant minds have worked since 1921 to produce such a mind-boggling idea, and more will come after Dr. Greene to help widen the structures of this amazing speculation. The Super String Theory is one of the most unbelievable presumptions in the whole world.
